Cricket economy is bit tricky, if i have to put it simply then would say India is biggest cashcow and every cricket board want to get into bed with the BCCI. IPL is literally a lifeline for many players and more profitable than the T-20 WC.

Hyderabad is not completely free from the pandemic, but it seems to be one of the better options right now. Tier 3 cities such as Goa and Trivandrum lack multiple stadiums, where dozens of matches can be played on a continuous basis. However, from the article posted by Huanebu, it looks as if BCCI wants the ICC to cancel the T20 World Cup. So what is the conclusion? Both these tournaments can't go ahead this year? Zero chance?

Who knows if they go with the empty stadium?

Kinda funny statement from the BCCI CEO Rahul Johri " More people watched the IPL last year than those who voted for general election" 

Window is small so yeah its safe to say "zero chance" unless BCCI goes cuckoo and gives green signal to IPL with in next 2-3 months

The way i am looking at this whole situation, CA too leaning onto IPL.

If there is an option for me i would rather want to see the T20 World Cup than the IPL and as you said, Goa and Kerala does not have multiple international stadiums, but they have stadiums .

The World Cup was scheduled in Australia and the virus situation is under control and considering that if the countries that are participating in the world cup can take measures by testing the players then the problem can be sorted out considering England is planning to resume cricket, it is a realistic possibility that T20 can be conducted without audience.

^^^^ I agree with the Hyderabad part. The outbreak there is under control, and new cases are being reported only from containment zones. But then, there is a risk factor. A lot of people from that city works in GCC nations such as Saudi Arabia. Expats are being brought back to their hometowns, and large number of cases are being reported from this group.

Staging the T20 World Cup in Australia may also involve similar risks. But I guess the risk can be brought under control, if they take strict precautions and play the matches with no crowd.

Sourav Ganguly is the BCCI president and i hope he will vote for T20 World Cup rather than the IPL even though the loss they will be encountering will be huge, the situation in India is not that favorable to restart the matches but the situation in Australia is completely different, they only have 515 positive cases and the situation is under control and hence there is a possibility for the T20 World Cup.

As mentioned earlier the situation in Australia is under control, they can carry on with the World Cup and if possible the IPL can be shifted to Australia considering the situation in Australia is under control.

I cannot understand why BCCI is stubborn in allowing these players to play outside as they are not even playing for the national team and why to restrict their earning opportunity .

Sourav Ganguly is a BCCI president first and I do not think he will vote for T20 World Cup when he knows how important it is for BCCI financially to conduct IPL. Therefore I doubt he will vote Worldcup over IPL.

I am sure they will organise the IPL with out any spectators using local players and if foreign players want to come they will provide them with necessary safety measure. They will opconduct these matches in states where there are less cases as if now Kerala, Telengana, Himachal Pradesh and few others have shown a huge improvement.

Lets see what he thinks. I still prefer World cup over IPL anytime.

This is one reason. Another reason is that the players could get exposed to COVID-19 since majority of these cases originated abroad which would damage their health and performance in the long term.

This could prove to be a tremendous loss both for the fans and BCCI who treat them as assets as you mentioned. The players themselves are bound by contracts and nothing much can be done in this case.

Overall, I do agree with BCCI here since they are focusing on the big picture in the long term.
