NZ and many smaller countries are now virus-free so the players and the required staff can be tested first and then they can organize an event away from India. It's not necessary to organize it in India when the condition is now worse and doesn't seem to improve for months. They are already incurring losses so they need to think of more alternatives. We may get an idea about the next ICC chairman during the meeting tomorrow. The front runner is obviously Colin Graves of England and Wales Cricket Board, and IMO he is the worst possible candidate for that job. He is one of those money minded individuals who will do whatever it takes to prevent the globalization of the sport. There are rumors that Sourav Ganguly (BCCI) and Ehsan Mani (PCB) may also announce their candidature. The candidate needs 8 votes to win out of 17 (12 test nations, 3 Associates, and two independent voters - Indra Nooyi & Shashank Manohar).

The T-20 World Cup is my primary focus. I feel like they might finalize NZ as the host this time around.

Well.. I am not saying that Graves did a bad job at the ECB. But the problem is that he is a bad candidate for the ICC. He holds a lot of contempt for associate nations and right now we don't need such a divisive individual as the head of the ICC. I would rather suggest Kumar Sangakkara as the head of the ICC, with Ganguly as the head of the BCCI. The combination would do wonders.


That would involve a lot of travel between Australia and New Zealand. Not possible under current circumstances.

Finally the long wait is over. The ICC is out with the verdict. The stakeholders have decided that a call will on the T20 World Cup will only be taken a month later after assessing the situation, according to reports.

So according to the ICC release,  The International Cricket Council (ICC) Board today agreed to continue exploring a number of contingency plans regarding the future of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 and the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2021 until next month whilst planning for delivery of the events in the scheduled window is ongoing.

The Board expressed its desire to continue to assess and evaluate the rapidly changing public health situation caused by COVID-19 working with key stakeholders including governments to  explore how the events can be staged to protect the health and safety of everyone involved.  This contingency planning process will evaluate health and safety, cricket, partner and host considerations ensuring any decision taken is in the best interests of the sport, its Members and fans.

ICC didn't come in any conclusion anyway, announcement for WC is postponed untill next month.

They should have taken a decision today. Australia has been reporting very low number of new cases for more than two months now. The situation there is not going to get any better than this. Either they should postpone the tournament or go ahead with it. There is no logic in keeping the fate of the T20 World Cup in a state of suspended animation.

While ICC is deciding whether to postpone T20 Worldcup next year, BCCI has decided to host IPL this year. Looks like Ganguly doesn't care about ICC's decision anymore


While Mumbai is the most corona affected region in India,  Mumbai Indians have decided to start their training from Today under strict guidelines 

If IPL face cancellation then BBCI is going to lose approx $500 Millions in one go... so clearly they are in deep mess in current situation and desperately want to organize event, let's see if other boards release their players for IPL.
