New update

Enable "Only Direct Mentions" on the Notifications page if you only want to get notified when someone quotes your posts or tags you with an @.

If enabled:

"Hello TryNinja!" -> 🚫 you're NOT notified
"Hello @TryNinja!" -> ✅ you're notified

If disabled:

"Hello TryNinja!" -> ✅ you're notified
"Hello @TryNinja!" -> ✅ you're notified

All quotes are notified regardless of the option.

This is useful for those users with a common word as username. When this option is disabled, someone with the username "happy" will get notified everytime someone writes the word, even if it has nothing to do with the user. "I'm very happy today!" -> annoying notifications.

This function is really useful, just not to me. I want to get notified when people use Mitchell, as lots of people won't add the @. Case in point, any auction in the Collectibles-section.

Since this keeps coming up: do you know what causes it? You could "calibrate" it by checking the user's profile, which is updated real-time (unlike the Merit count shown left from each post).

Isn't this the part to fix? I assume you use Recent merits, which currently shows the 497 last Merit transactions going back almost 40 hours. If you scrape this regularly, you shouldn't miss any Merit.

I'd say you should start from the last processed Merit, without a time limit. Even if you don't notify the user anymore because it's been too long (for a new user, or after downtime), it should still be added to the total Merit count.

I could get you a weekly total, but you'll still need to account for Merits that were sent after theymos' cut-off for his weekly merit.txt.xz dump.
