Reaves exploded for 51 points in a win against the Kings and thats without LeBron and Luka. This young guy is the real deal, definitely not overrated, as long as the team keeps trusting him hell deliver. Hes always been consistent, even before, but he was stuck under the shadow of LeBron and Davis. Now, with Lebron and Luka (out), its great to see him step up again and lead the team to an important road win.
He definitely need to step up since he is the third scorer of the team, since he already decline the extension, he would be eligible for a bigger offer, with that he needs to show if the money that will be offered to him is worth it, he also needs to have a consistent scoring even when LeBron is in the lineup, remember the lakers are trading players even when they are a star like what happen to Davis, so i think he is not exempted to that one, if he won't show up, they might not offer him a bigger paycheck.
Hes very confident that the Lakers will give him a max contract, and it really shows in the way hes been playing. So far, hes one of the most consistent guys on the team, and he can perform well even if he is just a backup of from Luka and LeBron. Theres no reason for the Lakers not to keep him, since the team clearly improves with him on the floor.
LeBron will eventually retire, and when that time comes, itll be him and Luka carrying the team.
Who knows, this undrafted player might just end up building his own legacy in the NBA.
