It could be something based around the concept of security/not having to take as much care of your own money and letting someone else be responsible for it, however there is some merit to what you're saying and bitcoin was never designed to be something built around having other people hold your money for you.

If you are using a service(bank), you probably will pay taxes, if you want to make some profit, just put your bitcoins in casinos bankroll, exchanges, ICO's or any other service... Just avoid banks, that's why bitcoin was created, to be descentralized... If you want to keep yours bitcoins safe, just make a paperwalet and hide it.

but i think you can even make profit if your bitcoins are in your wallets, as if the price goes up your profit increasing, but if you are saving your money in banks then its mean that you cannot use it for trading or in gambling or somewhere else, as you have to withdraw your bitcoin first and then you have to invest it, but if your money is with you in your wallet then you can use it directly for trading purposes.
