Sincerely JayJuanGee, you are really pushing high and it's a great fit. At your age and strength level, you still attain 180 push ups? Kudos.
My 180 push up day looked like this: Time of day, number of pushups, how many seconds for the set(s)
First set split pushups into two subsets: 09:41 100 84
Second set slow: 14:39 25 64
Third set regular: 19:59 55 48
You see that they were spread through the day.
On December 8 of last year, I had my most pushups in a day, which was 1,330... so I spent several months working up to that.
Maybe because you set a target of what to achieve as you have said. Sometimes too, it's 140, 150+ or even higher.
Until February 21 of this year when I reached 100k pushups I was pushing to do a lot of pushups in a day and my average at that time was 261 per day, yet after that I dropped down to mostly between 120 to 160 pushups per day.. Mostly.
The fluctuations in sets and daily number is normal, but the push up numbers is fucking mad for me and am encouraged. Am a very young guy just about 30, and I can't imagine hitting those figures in a day and you still constantly do. Maybe setting targets too might help, and also allowing myself get involved fully while building intentionally for long time too can boost my performance. Am sure you could do alot greater than those numbers while you were younger plus doing those figures now took you sometime before achieving all that. It's all practice, and it improves learning and knowledge.
Surely I could have had done way better physically in my youth, but I did not do pushups in my younger years. I had other hobbies and other kinds of physical activities. So yeah currently there is quite a bit of intentionality with the pushups, and sometimes when we are younger we might not prioritize some daily exercise as much as we might want to incorporate something like pushups when we are older since resistance training is good for older people, even though surely I still get sore and frequently don't want to do my pushups, but I force myself, and even sometimes setting an alarm on my phone to make me do pushups at the time the alarm goes off.
About your story and the guys you saw. I feel pretty good and I wish I was there with you watching those guys. For what they were able to pull off within the time you watched them, till they ended, as you reported, I think there age has a hand of support in their strength as to the speed and accuracy used in there different sets, though the three guys might not have the same strength and accuracy. In everything, Age is always a factor. Older ones can't possibly do what the younger one can do. Even if they do, not with the same time frame, speed and flexibility. Strength fades. And secondly, another factor I feel has helped them is long time and constant exercise too. A newbie can't possibly do that, unless he passes through face of relentless training and discipline to achieve it. For me, their performance is a WOW. I can only dream of it, at least, for now
Sometimes there can be some areas in which we are surprised to see such an activity, and surely other times, we might be looking for certain activities, and surely these days I notice if guys are doing pushups... Sometimes there will be areas in a park where people are exercising, and sometimes if we are passing by we could watch.. Other times, if we were passing by in an automobile, we might not have time to stop and watch. Sometimes we are also too busy to be able to watch what other people are doing.
