Finally, I was able to register again for the $20K stake.com Christmas freeroll. Yesterday, I couldn’t register because I kept getting errors, and it wasn’t just me. I saw in my local chat that others were having the same issue.
Once you’re registered, there’s nothing to worry about. It’s really just the registration part that’s difficult.

Personally, when there are that many participants, I don't even bother joining anymore. Instead, I just enjoy the games offered by the casino. If I get lucky, that's great, and if not, I'm still okay with it because what matters most is that I had a good time playing the games I chose on their platform.

The only explanation for such thing to happen during registration would be their server getting overwhelmed with registration request from thousands of people who also wanted to join stake for this christmas season, to try their luck and see if they can pocket some money in the process. Anyways, I am glad you managed to get through those problems and you are in for this Xmas ride ahead of us.

I also received an email from Stake encouraging me to participate in their seasonal events this year, let us see how it goes for me. this could be the year my bad luck is over and I actually manage to get some sats out of my sessions. Who knows.

Their offer for gamblers this year must be specially good if their servers had to deal with so many requests at the same time, in my opinion.

These marketing emails tend to be exciting, but you are correct, they are just meant to have players play and continue to spend. Most of them are not really worth opening unless there is an obvious bonus or some other reward that will be guaranteed inside. Nevertheless, the seasonal events organized by Stake do bring several hundred traffic, thus it could be the reason behind the overloaded servers; any large campaign is sure to attract both the faithful and the curious. Concerning the monthly and post-monthly bonuses, Stake also appears to be operating within a rather predictable pattern each year and the timeline you noted is familiar with several of the long-term users. Then when you are waiting to get something to look forward to, the bonuses they are promising to pay are much more dependable than what you will see in the promotional emails.

Thanks, @panjul07! I didn't know about that. And I prefer making the smallest bets possible, I thought it'll give the opportunity to bet with less. But apparently that's not the case. After changing my currency, as you explained, I found out that the minimum bet I could make was , and that's 0.024 USD, while I can bet with as little as 0.01 USD on the same Pragmatic slot. (It was new to me, btw, because I always thought the minimum on Pragmatic slots was $0.20). But don't bother, I really don't want to bet with less than 1 cent, bc I think it's not interesting.
