Silently the qualifier for the world T20 scheduled for 2020 have come to an end. Netherlands have recorded the win in the final beating Papua New Guinea. First round groupings were made with With these results, the first round groupings for world cup T20 now confirmed. Papua New Guinea, Ireland, Oman and Sri Lanka in Group A and Group B will have Netherlands, Namibia, Scotland joining Bangladesh.
Two teams from each group will advance to the Super-12 and it is very important because these teams will get direct qualification for the 2021 T20 World Cup (which will be played in India). I would not be unrealistic in my predictions, but with the way some of the associate sides are playing right now, there is a very good chance that at least one of the test sides (Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Ireland) will miss the super-12.
The Group A is still a bit easier. Sri Lanka and Ireland are likely to progress to Super-12, as the other two are not strong sides (Papua New Guinea and Oman). But it is going to be tough in Group B. Along with Bangladesh, the best associate side is placed in that group (Netherlands). The other two are also very good teams (Namibia and Scotland).
