You are right. Many people see DCA as just buying regularly. But the main strength of DCA is to create financial discipline as well as determine the average purchase price. If the source of investment is not clear or the investment is made from the required money, then the investment can be risky. Many investors make a mistake, they want to buy as soon as they see an opportunity in the market, but do not determine the limits of their financial capabilities properly. As a result, they cannot maintain the plan if the market declines significantly. Therefore, it is important to create a realistic structure of your monthly income and expenses before investing. This will help you understand which part is safe to use for long term investment.

My point is that most people are not in a good place to attempt to emulate Saylor/MSTR except perhaps trying to buy regularly and trying to stay within their own budget.

It is way the fuck more important for normie newbies to stay within their budget than to try to fuck around with overly aggressive approaches to bitcoin accumulation - including that many people, even sophisticated players who had been trying to follow Saylor's approach ended up getting themselves screwed because they were going beyond their own budget limitations.

DCA, the topic of this thread, allows newbies (and even more experienced investors) to tailor their level of aggressiveness to their own budget without trying to fuck around with fancy techniques and also without having to market their techniques.  Part of Saylor/MSTR's approach also seems to involve providing various products to sell so that people put money into their products rather than buying actual bitcoin.. and an overwhelming majority of normal people would be better off to focus on accumulating actual bitcoin and even making sure to self-custody their own bitcoin, perhaps even using their bitcoin and/or spending and replacing and getting acquainted with various ways to use their bitcoin, even while they are building up their bitcoin stash..  

Saylor's products are distractions, even if it could well be the case that he/his company and/or his custodian(s) actually have the quantity of bitcoin that they proclaim to have, the extent that they are not some sort of PsyOp that is looking to distract normies into thinking that paper products are better than actually owning bitcoin - even though surely earlier in Saylor's involvement in bitcoin he did frequently promote the holding of actual bitcoin, which he does not emphasize the holding of bitcoin as much as he had been doing in his earlier years in bitcoin.


We seem to have ongoing problems of governments providing coercion and even accounting requirements, and it would be way better if they allowed a certain level of transactions without having to report or to potentially pay taxes (beyond the transaction taxes), which produces a lot of disincentives for folks (or merchant's) to officially advertise themselves as accepting bitcoin - even though the Franchise "Steak and Shake" have apparently been doing well with their bitcoin (and lightning) acceptance and other creative things they are doing to provide extra payments to their employees in bitcoin - even though it takes a while for the extra bitcoin payments to vest for the Steak and Shake employees.  Apparently, the bitcoin payment method that Steak and Shake is doing for its employees is like a bitcoin-tailored retirement plan.


If we are investing in bitcoin and perhaps we are ongoingly learning about bitcoin, then we can make adjustments (up and/or down) in regards to how much time, energy and/or value that we are putting into it based on what we might have had thought bitcoin is and any changes to our perceptions of what it is.

So, maybe initially, when we come to bitcoin, we have a very superficial understanding, and perhaps even a lot of wrong understandings, yet we still might start to invest into it, but start to invest in such a way that we are prepared for either price direction, but also perhaps having some surprises in terms of the extent to which some variation of our expectation ends up coming into play.

Ongoingly in bitcoin, people have been worried about various governmental reactions, whether at local levels or maybe on levels that are more spread out (higher level governments and/or coordinations between nations). Governmental involvement in bitcoin tends to be an ongoing phenomena, and even one right now that is not necessarily agreed upon regarding how to frame what the various governmental entities are doing and why they are doing some of the things that they are doing - so if maybe upon the election of Trump in November 2024, he and his administration was making all kinds of positive statements, and even seeming to affect the policies and practices of other governments, yet at the same time, his actions have not proven to be as friendly to bitcoin as some folks had been interpreting them to be... so in some sense, the lack of permission in regards to peer to peer transactions, privacy and/or self-sovereignty attacks likely contributes to an undermining of quite a few bitcoin use cases, , yet it does not negate it's investment thesis and perhaps the various kinds of actions and/or interactions that tend to vary in different jurisdictions...so perhaps there can still be a lot of value with bitcoin, especially in war torn areas to move capital and/or value - even when there are interferences with real world transportation issues, such as difficulties to move oil or gold or goods.


There are differences if the 2018/2019 guy built up a good bitcoin position early in the process and perhaps kept investing in bitcoin ever since then in a fairly aggressive way, versus if the guy had been ongoingly delaying in his investment in bitcoin, so then by the time he really seriously started buying bitcoin, maybe his first few years involved in bitcoin did not really count because he was failing/refusing to act upon his knowledge about bitcoin and to buy it.

So, it could be that the confidence in bitcoin results, in part, by having had built up a bit of a profits cushion, so even if the bitcoin price corrects back down, there is a certain level of confidence that it is ONLY going to correct so much to the downside, and of course, there are still no guarantees the guy might be continuing to buy bitcoin.

Of course, we also have guys who might frame what they are doing as investing, but they are really trying to catch various BTC price waves, so their own behaviors and perspectives in regards to how to treat their bitcoin accumulation and/or bitcoin stash management also affects their behavior and their willingness to continue to buy bitcoin  or maybe to stop buying during periods in which he runs out of money, yet he may well may not resort to selling any bitcoin, since he continues to consider himself to be in his accumulation phase of his bitcoin investment journey.

There can be changes in conviction, and it is not even automatic that everyone gets smarter in how to manage their bitcoin if they might have had been making errors in their bitcoin history, and never ended up hunkering down and really building a bitcoin stash in the earlier years of their involvement in bitcoin.

We have a lot of dumb fucks in bitcoin, which I partly blame on either their trading or their getting involved in shitcoins, so over the years they never really developed their bitcoin conviction, and we cannot necessarily assume that everyone develops a bitcoin conviction merely due to their being involved in it for a couple of cycles, especially if they did not develop good habits.

I personally consider that even if guys had not developed good habits in the beginning, they can still recover by starting too employ good habits, yet there are still guys who cannot snap into good habits, even if they have already been involved in bitcoin for a cycle or two.


That seems to be true, but people have to come to their own conclusions, and I am not going to presume that everyone grows at the same rate and/or figures out the right lessons in regards to how to treat an asset like bitcoin.  There are still plenty of folks on the sidelines waiting for further bitcoin dip before they get in..  (or get back in) and sure there is nothing wrong with holding some money for the buying of dips that might or might not end up happening, even though frequently it has been found to be good idea to be ongoingly buying too, especially for guys who might still consider themselves to be pretty llow on the bitcoin stash size count.


Crypto refers to shitcoins.. Don't be fucking around with shitcoins or confusing matters by referring to bitcoin with such an ambiguous, vague and misleading term.  Learn and invest into bitcoin first, shitcoins are not investments.. yet if you cannot resist investing (or trading) with shitcoins, limit such exposure to no more than 10% of the size of your bitcoin investment.

But if you keep accumulating Bitcoin regularly and do one or two cycles regularly, your portfolio will show the average buying price of the last four years. DCA method is an automatic cost averaging technique through which you can go through your right investment stage without any interruption. If you do not have a sense of discipline in investing, this technique can discipline you because Dollar Cost Averaging is a novel technique through which investors of any income can get a huge Bitcoin portfolio through their discretionary income.

I think investors accumulate Bitcoin regularly thinking about the average price. I do not agree with you on this point. If you can continue accumulating Bitcoin weekly your portfolio will hit the buying price to be 52 times per year and during this time the price of Bitcoin will not only go up but also down and as a result of buying at different prices, it will show an average price at the end of the year and this is overall low buying point. After four years this point will continue to expand and the average buying price will continue to decrease. DCA approach can put an investor in a strong investment position without exposing them to risk.

Some people will never understand what you just said because of their mindset, they always want to generalize things without considering the fact that Bitcoin has no business with random shits, you see some of them crying back when they face the real shit that come from investing in those garbage littered everywhere but I ask, what does it take for investors to understand that Bitcoin is a unique project of it's own, you see some people saying some trash about crypto as they call it but it is very rare for you to see any of them come out to say the got some benefit as an exit package, most times it ends with had I known and they keep going back, they will still come to argue that they weren't gambling, @JayJuanGee your advice is good but I hope they will take that because shits has done a lot to peoples mindset and to some point I will say they are addicted to it but won't admit to that.

Of course, each person is responsible for his own action, and sometimes there are cases in which some newbie might not realize that there is a difference between bitcoin and shitcoins..  so there are some folks who are helped by the clarification and they can look into matters for themselves, and perhaps start out with bitcoin first.. and try not to get distracted by shitcoins.

There are some folks who continue to screw around with shitcoins, yet they learn at a later point that it is better to just focus on bitcoin rather than getting sucked into inferior products that may well just be scams.

Even though some folks are hooked on gambling and they cannot stop themselves from gambling, there are others who will improve or maybe never get into shitcoins because someone pointed out that there is a value to focus on bitcoin first.

For so many times Bitcoin already prove that its nobody or the same with those scam coins think by doubters. Yeah its understandable that many scam coins out there, but Bitcoin is really different.

Bitcoin is so beginner friendly although there's some learnings needed to take, but for sure they those people can escape the risk brought up by fast pump and dump shitcoins. Once they learn how they deal with Bitcoin, its up to them if they want to explore or diversify. But for me better focus on Bitcoin if they want to invest and choose to engage with long term investment. Much better to build solid foundation on Bitcoin rather than playing games with those risky projects out there.

Thats what we all must do i.e. to stay within our budget and keep buying. It doesn't matter whether you have power to invest 100$ or 1000$ per week, important factor is how consistent you remain in your journey of investment. Saylor is not following any strategy but he buys whenever he has mood of buying. We have already discussed this thing that we must not get inspiration from a guy who is accumulating Bitcoin for almost 5.5 years and still in loss. If we follow Saylor strategy i.e. buy whenever we have mood then there are chances that 5.5 years from now on we might also be in loss.  
 

If you look at website of MSTR then its written that "By using proceeds from equity and debt financings, as well as cash flows from our operations, we strategically accumulate Bitcoin and advocate for its role as digital capital." Saylor is just fancy things on social media but reality is that he is not using his money to buy Bitcoin and his strategy has not worked so far.

If I have to invest I have to think from a point of view that I am investing today and in the long run I want to see my investment in profit unlike MSTR portfolio.  


Almost every government has same stance on Bitcoin i.e. they will allow its usage only if government can fully monitor and tax it. If we talk about the decentralised Bitcoin then unfortunately governments don't have much soft corner for that at least my government don't like it.  

We have already discussed prospects of early investing in Bitcoin that allows you get relax early in your life. "Steak and Shake" is doing good if they are providing salaries in fiat to there employees and incentive in the form of Bitcoin. That will allow employees to retain there Bitcoins for longer term and this in turn will help then getting good return in the long run.


If start investing and that also start our learning process about Bitcoin. When you have invested money then its obvious that you do more research to make sure your investment is safe. As time progresses, we are in better position to tweak our strategy. Like if you have spend time in Bitcoin then current dip looks lucrative to you as buying opportunity not a thing to worry.  


Politicians have different stance on things when they are in opposition or doing election campaign but it changes as soon as they make it to government office. This is what Donald Trump did and this is not something to be surprised. Everyone who is government office holder will speak what government thinks about Bitcoin and that I just explained.  

Bitcoin no doubt is a blessing in regions which are hit due to war or other natural disaster where moment of a physical asset is restricted or limited. You just need an internet connectivity to send an receive it.


In ongoing dip, the lowest price seen so far is 62000$ and price has not fallen below that. Now for last few days Bitcoin price is hovering around 70,000$. The point is you won't get benefit from dip unless you start buying at some point when price has gone down otherwise if you keep aiming for further low then you will miss out the real opportunity to buy Bitcoin.

If someone invest regularly as you pointed out, what if the same person stops at some point, has such person succeeded in continuing it for a long-term? They answer is no right? It means every invest should be relentless while doing the do in Bitcoin investment, why some investors keep getting it wrong in Bitcoin investment is their approach which I will not stop pointing it out, you see someone deviating from how to invest in Bitcoin, the DCA is a very sweet strategy but some people still finds it very difficult to understand how it works properly, DCA works with that comfortable amount you want to start with and it is gotten from your discreationary income which makes everything very easy.

There is no one right answer, and of course, a person could reach a conclusion that he believes that he put enough into the investment, but that does not mean that he failed, since he might continue to hold all of it or most of it.. there are variations.


Sure there are problems when people might discontinue adding to their holdings way too soon, and they don't recognize the value of continuing to add to their bitcoin investment until they reach a high enough quantity...   Some of them might have regrets later.. whether they had chosen to sell some or not and maybe merely based on their either slowing down or stopping in their ongoing adding to their stash.

There may also be a decent number of people who buy bitcoin, yet they do not understand what they are investing into, and they would benefit from spending some time to learn about it, whether they need 50 hours, 200 hours, 1,000 hours or some other amount might depend on them and/or some people learn faster than others,  including that some people might recognize the strength of bitcoin's investment thesis faster than others... and sometimes some critical thinking skills can be helpful to sort through the information and the disinformation.  it is not always clear which information is which.


You are right. There are a lot of different kinds of examples how some folks will be able to keep doing their ongoing investments longer and perhaps with more aggressiveness (and activism) as compared with others who might either stop buying and sometimes sell most if not all of the bitcoin that they had accumulated.

People make choices that sometimes is followed by action (or inaction), and sometimes they regret their decisions, actions and/or inactions at a later date.

You have not said anything incorrectly, yet there is value in attempting to relate to how hard it can be for people to get started...and add a new activity or a new habit..   

Each of us have probably experienced situations when we think that we have enough "on our plate," and enough things (or more than enough) that we are supposed to do, so it can tend to take time to add a new activity (or habit).. 

Many of us likely have the same issues, and perhaps we even have a list of things that we are doing or need to do, yet we also might get distracted into other activities, watching TV or attending family events or maybe our car (or motorcycle) broke down, so we are scrambling to figure out how to fix it, yet at a price that is affordable. And, even more expenses and drama if a family is involved with trying to negotiate expenses and even how time is spent.

So maybe we are lucky if we are able to dedicate 3 hours per week to "look into bitcoin," to the extent that we might have other competing demands on our time, including needs to work, and maybe the work does not even pay enough.. but we don't really have much choice, so sometimes we might spend our free time to look for a better job that pays more and does not demand so much of our time... yet if we are able to figure out when we are able to dedicate 3 hours per week looking into bitcoin, yet we might be confused about where to start and a need to keep a list of what parts we feel that we need to look into, and so many times, personally, I tend to think that more time needs to be looked at organizing personal finances rather than bitcoin itself, yet it is likely that there are needs to look into and organizing both (investment into bitcoin and putting strong cashflow management practices - including back up funds - into place).

You are correct that DCA can create avenue to get started.. but it still might take some time to figure out how to source the coins.. and then even failures to make sure to build back up funds, so then the beginner wings it, but might also get frustrated with price moves or even figuring out how to source his coins and getting into a habit of buying ever week (or whatever the investment time interval might end up being).

I think that part of the reason that many of us emphasize getting started is because even when a guy intends to get started, it still tends to take a long time for him to do all the things that he thinks that he needs to do, even though many of us know that many times, if he just starts out small, then he can work bitcoin into his routine.. so it is better to get started as soon as possible and to start small.. and then to build up to greater amounts, with some needs for the guy to prioritize something like buying every week, and perhaps studying it at least a couple of hours each week during the period that he is getting used to investing in it and also while he is also bolstering his cashflow management systems/practices.
