Since BCCI is leading the cricket administration, its become more of a responsibility for them to further spread cricket awareness in other countries.
Unfortunately, Cricket is one of those sports which is not played widely among many countries.
Well.. it has been the other way around. During the Srinivasan/Pawar era, it was the BCCI which sabotaged all the globalization plans laid by the previous ICC president Jagmohan Dalmiya. If Dalmiya had his way, then cricket would have been an Olympic sports by 2012, or latest by 2016. The cartel sabotaged it, and now the earliest date possible is 2032. Meanwhile, other sports have gone ahead with their own globalization programs, and as a result minor sports like Rugby, Kabaddi and Baseball are now played in more countries when compared to cricket (numbers for cricket are inflated, as most of the teams are completely made up of foreigners).
