As reported by The Athletic, for many insiders it's no longer a question of if Simmons will be traded but rather when. According to the same source, the Sixers have their eyes on Lillard. A dream that until some time ago could be considered impossible but that could become more defined and credible in the next months. Let's keep an eye on the Philadelphia-Portland route.
It's not a secret already that we will see Ben Simmons on a different jersey next season. It's been always the rumor even before the start of the recent season. He is no longer capable of being a pure Sixers player because of various reasons.
The Sixers will do a good job if they will trade Simmons and keep Joel Embiid, their most performing player last season. Then hunt some good point guards that can replace Simmons, not by 100% but a good one to risks.
They've already sign Joel for a multi dollar contract extension, it means that he will be their franchise player. And yeah, Simmons wanted out already, you can't blame him, and he can't blame the Sixers as well for wanting to trade him because of his poor performance in their playoffs against the Hawks.
Lillard already debunked that he will be traded but if my understandings are correct, he just debunked that he will transfer to the Lakers but the signing to another team is possible.
Perhaps he wanted to be traded to a contender team, and maybe the Sixers will be a good home for him. But it will still be Joel's team no matter what, but the duo could be one of the dangerous if this trade with Simmons push through.
