Having altcoin means few of the marketcap that bitcoin could have going towards altcoins marketcap. So if there were no any altcoins than bitcoin marketcap could have been bit higher and also same for price.

the only reason why any of the altcoins exist is that bitcoin is open source with a free to use (MIT) license and also the fact that price of bitcoin went from nothing to $1200 from that day everybody is thinking about making a new coin with nothing to offer and make money from the pump and dump of it. but they forget that things never work this way.

well, yeah. if you are going to think that way you should also think that we don't know how long anything is going to last for! the world as we know it may fall apart because of apocalypse or the financial world can collapse because of the financial crisis that everybody is speculating about and fiat likes us dollar can become worthless.

so it all comes down to the chance of any of these happening. there is a lot of potential in bitcoin so we can know to some extent how long it can last for.

Yeah, all people only use 1 crypto coin and it's only bitcoin. Bitcoin without altcoin, i think it's good for bitcoin, the bitcoin's price also increase because of that.

That is the latest scam that have been happening a lot lately. One did it and the other will be following it. This will never stop as long as they know there is a lot of money that can be profited from it. Just look how many alt coins are there now. Tthat also makes other good alts be bad at the view of some people.

That is right. The altcoin attract more people as there are so many of them. When they know the altcoin, they will love bitcoin.

Correct, altcoin do make important role  on  increasing  bitcoins adoption since those altcoin is  dependent to bitcoin for  able to be trade which people would  definitely pass first to bitcoin  after they purchase the said altcoin then it would  be a good  publicity to bitcoin.

Altcoins (maybe with the exception of Litecoin) have done nothing for BTC apart from ridicule it. The same rinse and repeat is just absurd and offensive.

Some have names such as solar panel project coin I mean come on.

We could do with a completely different design of coin, trying to slightly improve Bitcoin is of no use, revolutionise or stay away.

the existence of altcoins is good because they are mostly there to help and experiment on where bitcoin is not changing. for example we can take a lot of lessens from the mistakes of altcoins like the hard fork of ethereum and the disastrous two chains.

and also having some kind of competition is always good to force the developers to up their games and work harder even if the competition is small.

Yes indeed it is good for bitcoin economy to have a competitive altcoin but still it is getting hard to trust some alts because a lot of disaster is happening with them. I wont say bitcoin is perfect but to reach the point to where it is now will be a long time for them to catch up.
